The Specialist Quality Mark is awarded by the Legal
Services Commission and is in two main forms. The Specialist Quality Mark for
Solicitors and the Specialist Quality Mark for the Bar.
The standard is a mandatory requirement of those
solicitors firms or barristers' Chambers seeking to provide services to lay
clients that are funded from the Legal Aid budget and is also recommended for
those barristers chambers seeking to provide advocacy for legally aided clients.
The standard, again, has its roots in the international
standard for quality management ISO9001:2000 and has been tailored to meet the
particular needs and requirements of the Legal Services Commission and its
contracting arrangements with legal firms and barristers whilst endeavouring to
ensure that the highest levels of service are provided to clients seeking
assistance.
Cherry Tree Consultancy Ltd has worked with a number of
solicitors' firms and barristers' Chambers in assisting them achieve
accreditation against the relevant standard and aims in all cases to provide a
package solution from provision of draft and specimen documentation through
staff training and briefing, support and assistance during the implementation
phase and preparation for the external assessment.
